Our journey with the bees
The fascination with honey bees began in childhood, observing family and friends working with these incredible creatures. While life led to a career in public safety, the passion for beekeeping remained. After retiring and returning to Cleveland County, North Carolina, the interest was reignited. A beginner beekeeping course through the Cleveland County Beekeepers Association was the first step, followed by purchasing the first two hives and Nucs of bees locally. What started as a hobby quickly grew into Greene Gold Honey Co., a proud member of the NC State Beekeepers Association, the Cleveland County Beekeepers Association, and the Certified NC Honey Producers program.
Why we love what we do
Interacting with these amazing creatures is truly a joy. Honey bees offer valuable lessons in hard work, industry, cleanliness, focus, teamwork, and mission orientation. We delight in the diverse colors and tastes of honey, each unique to its hive. There's immense satisfaction in safely removing and saving a swarm or colony from places they are unwanted, providing them with a new, safe home. Our dedication extends to ensuring the well-being of every bee we encounter, reflecting our deep respect for these essential pollinators.

Connecting with the community
Greene Gold Honey Co. is deeply rooted in the Cleveland County community. We actively participate in the Cleveland County Beekeepers Association, which hosts a cabin with an observation hive at the annual Cleveland County Fair. Here, we interact with thousands of visitors, answer questions, sell association honey, and provide educational opportunities. Our observation hive is also available for presentations at schools and other venues. We enthusiastically seize every chance to educate and speak about honey bees and their invaluable contributions to our world. Without them, we cannot flourish.
